AN INVITATION TO FELLOW MICHIGAN CITIZENS

A small group (calling ourselves the Friends of the FPCS in Michigan) has arisen in Grand Rapids, Michigan of those who would like to see Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland (FPCS) congregations formed here. We would like to extend an invitation to you to join with us.  Meetings of this small group for worship are commencing.  These meetings ordinarily will consist of two meetings on the Lord’s Day (10:30 am and 5:30 pm) and one mid-week prayer meeting on Thursday evenings at 7:45 pm.  Information about these meetings is found at http://www.puritans.net/fpcs/meetings.htm .

The Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland describes itself this way at its website at  http://www.fpchurch.org.uk/ :

The Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland is an evangelical, Calvinistic denomination, reformed in doctrine, worship and practice. It was formed in 1893 and is a mainline descendant of the historic Church of Scotland of the Reformation.  As part of the Christian Church, we accept the Bible as the inspired Word of God. We believe that the Westminster Confession of Faith is an accurate statement of the main doctrines of the Bible. As a brief summary,

We believe:

There is one God, who created the whole universe.

This one God exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Man’s main duty in life is to know, love and glorify God.

Everyone is guilty of sin and deserves to be punished in hell for ever.

God in his mercy has sent his Son, Jesus Christ, who is both God and man, to be the Saviour of sinners.

Jesus was crucified for sinners, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven.

Those who trust in Christ are accepted by God and will go to heaven.

Only the Holy Spirit can bring people to faith.

Jesus will return at the Day of Judgment…

Currently I am still the only member of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland in our state, but it is my hope that God would continue to raise up others with similar convictions, so that in time there might be congregations here.  God often works by changing one mind at a time, and each person is important.   If you would like to discuss the possibility with me, or more importantly the claims of Jesus Christ upon all of us, please email me at info@puritans.net .   Thank you for seriously considering this invitation.
