JESUITS : BOTH
SIDES OF THE TOTALITARIAN FENCE
At Puritan News we try to document how
Jesuits have played on both sides of the totalitarian fence: some are fascists
and some are Marxists (and some are somewhere in between the two). When you are on both sides of a competition,
it is hard to lose, after all. And that
has been the shrewd strategy of the Jesuit Order throughout its history. It is on almost every side but the truth.
In
other articles we document historical examples of Marxist Jesuits, but
correspondent Al Hembd sent us this information about some fascist Jesuits:
William
Randolph Hearst, founder of the Hearst Newspaper empire, and later founder of
the Time/Life empire, was a Papist, trained at Jesuit schools throughout his
youth. In the 1930's, when the Jesuit
Father Coughlin had his anti-Semitic radio talk show, on which he said in 1939
that Hitler's war in Europe was "war for Christianity," Hearst also
promoted Hitler. As an anticommunist. pretty much, whatever the Jesuits told him to print or promote, he did it. He followed Father Coughlin and Father Walsh of Georgetown University (both supporters of Hitler up to 1941), most religiously.
