“Have a Merry Pretend Day Christmas!”

By Parnell McCarter

The “Christian” world (which cannot seem to shake off its Romish ways) wants us to pretend that:

-       There is good evidence Jesus was born on December 25.

-       There is good evidence God wants us to commemorate the birth of Jesus each December 25 (for which we are pretending there is good evidence Jesus was born on December 25).

-       There is good evidence God wants us to sing these special hymns for the December 25 occasion, aka carols, (for which we are pretending there is good evidence God wants us to commemorate the birth of Jesus each December 25, for which we are pretending there is good evidence Jesus was born on December 25).

Not to be outdone, the secular world wants us to pretend Santa Claus, Rudolph, elves, etc. are all to be associated with December 25 too.

And the business world wants us to pretend massive shopping, paid in credit, is to be associated with December 25 too.

And the world wants us to keep up this charade for many days in advance of December 25.

So if the world were honest, it would tell us to “Have a Merry Pretend Day!”

But it is not, so it just tells us to “Have a Merry Christmas!”
