OUR TEMPLE

By Parnell McCarter

“Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.  Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?  But he spake of the temple of his body.”  (John 2:19-21)

There are many magnificent temples in this world, but none can match the temple of believers.  Our temple is nothing less than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It is through and with Him that we have our access to God and meet with God.  Surely then we can say with the psalmist:

“How amiable [are] thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!  My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God…Blessed [are] they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee…For a day in thy courts [is] better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness…”  (Psalm 84)
