Puritan News Weekly Editor Told Regarding Reformed Theology Discussion List (rtdisc): "free to post on any subject not involving Rome, Jesuits and the governmental conspiracies associated with them"

I received this note from Liam Gallagan and the other moderators of rtdisc:

Parnell,

I am writing to you on behalf of the RTDisc moderators. We feel
that the current emphasis of your posts has not been keeping in
line with the purposes of the list. The content (pertaining to
the Roman Catholic Jesuits thread and the eschatological date
settings) are just not positive to the list standards for
promoting Reformed Theology. We are encouraging you to post on
any other threads, but the Jesuit and Roman Catholic theories are
out. Reformed theology has a wide variety of subjects to engage
in without having to discuss these topics. Just to be clear on
what we are trying to say: You are free to post on any subject
not involving Rome, Jesuits and the governmental conspiracies
associated with them. Understand also that this is not a personal
attack, but further posting on those subjects will cause
moderation.

Thanks Parnell. God's grace and Peace be with you.

On behalf of the moderators (me, Barry and Sherry),

Liam

Liam, would you and the other moderators be willing to make the list
aware that I am "free to post on any subject not involving Rome, Jesuits
and the governmental conspiracies associated with them"?  Also,
curiously, how is that position consistent with the historic
**reformed** standards which speak so strongly against Rome?

I see no need so to make the list aware of your limitations, since the list is
aware in general of what is appropriate to the list.  I know that I have
expressed my displeasure with these fringe topics before (and not just with
you), and have put a stop more than once to these and related subjects.  As Liam
noted, however, your opinions are valued on any other subjects concerning the
Reformed faith.

My final email on RTDisc before signing off for some time:

I have appreciated conversing with you folks, but due to various factors I have decided to sign off from RTDisc for some time.  Given the limitations of discourse communicated to me by the moderators (see http://www.puritans.net/news/reformed013103.htm for correspondence with the moderators), there is a real likelihood I would be “moderated” anyway .

I will leave you with these 2 quotes:

  1. The Advertised Description of RTDisc : “The purpose of this list is the discussion of Reformed Theology, as expressed particularly in the Westminster Standards (Scottish-Presbyterian) and the Three forms of Unity (Dutch Calvinism).”

  1. The Statement of the Westminster Standards Relevant to the Romish Church and the Nature of its worldwide activities: “There is no other head of the Church but the Lord Jesus Christ: nor can the Pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof; but is that Antichrist, that man of sin and son of perdition, that exalteth himself in the Church against Christ, and all that is called God.”

- Parnell McCarter

P.S. Although I will be off from RTDisc for some time, http://www.puritans.net/  will be running full time.
