VATICAN INSISTED ON SECRECY IN SEX ABUSE CASES
By Al Hembd
CBS
News has uncovered a document in the Vatican that instructed priests and
bishops to cover up sex crimes in the clergy. If you click to the URL
below, you will find a link on that page--where the text says, as below,
"Here is the secret Vatican document that instructs bishops to cover
up..."--you will find a link to the actual document online in Latin, or
to an English translation of it.
The text is printed with
an old-fashioned Underwood-style manual typewriter. It begins: "The
crime of solicitation takes place when a priest tempts a penitent, whoever that
person is, in the sacrament of confession...
The document goes on to
say that a secret tribunal is to be held...and that the evidence is to be
concealed from the civil authorities. It also says that "They
will be able to TRANSFER HIM TO ANOTHER ASSIGNMENT...."
In other words, as revealed
some months back on website Puritan News Weekly, Cardinal Law of Boston,
in transferring proven child molesters repeatedly, was only following
orders from the Vatican!!!

Sex Crimes Cover-Up By
Vatican?
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6, 2003
According to church
records, the document was a bedrock of Catholic sex abuse policy until
America's Bishops met last summer and drafted new policies to address the
crisis in the church.
SECRET VATICAN DOCUMENT
Here is the secret
Vatican document that instructs bishops to cover up sex crimes by priests.
Below are the original Latin version and an unofficial English translation
provided to CBS News.
(CBS) For decades,
priests in this country abused children in parish after parish while their
superiors covered it all up. Now it turns out the orders for this cover up were
written in Rome at the highest levels of the Vatican.
CBS News Correspondent
Vince Gonzales has uncovered a church document kept secret for 40 years.
The confidential Vatican
document, obtained by CBS News, lays out a church policy that calls for
absolute secrecy when it comes to sexual abuse by priests - anyone who speaks
out could be thrown out of the church.
The policy was written in
1962 by Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani.
The document, once
"stored in the secret archives" of the Vatican, focuses on crimes
initiated as part of the confessional relationship and what it calls the
"worst crime": sexual assault committed by a priest" or
"attempted by him with youths of either sex or with brute animals."
Bishops are instructed to
pursue these cases "in the most secretive way...restrained by a perpetual
silence...and everyone {including the alleged victim) ...is to observe the
strictest secret, which is commonly regarded as a secret of the Holy
Office...under the penalty of excommunication."
Larry Drivon, a lawyer
who represents alleged victims, said, "This document is significant
because it's a blueprint for deception."
Drivon said the document
proves what he has alleged on behalf of victims in priest-abuse lawsuits: that
the church engaged in Mafia-style behavior -- racketeering.
"It's an instruction
manual on how to deceive and how to protect pedophiles," Drivon said.
"And exactly how to avoid the truth coming out."
"The idea that this
is some sort of blueprint to keep this secret is simply wrong," said Msgr.
Francis Maniscalco, spokesman for the the U.S. Conference of Bishops.
The conference said the
document is being taken out of context, that it's a church law that deals only
with religious crimes and sins. And that the secrecy is meant to protect the
faithful from scandal.
"This is a system of
law which is complete in itself and is not telling the bishops in any way about
how to handle these crimes when they are considered as civil crimes,"
Maniscalco said.
But Richard Sipe, a
former priest who has written about sex abuse and secrecy in the church, said
the document sends a chilling message.
"This is the code
for how you must deal with sex by priests. You keep it secret at all
costs," Sipe said. "And that's what's happened. It's happened in
every diocese in this country."
According to church
records, the document was a bedrock of Catholic sex abuse policy until
America's bishops met last summer and drafted new policies to address the
crisis in the church.

This
post pertains to the secret document that has just been uncovered by CBS News. The
secret document in the Vatican, drafted by Cardinal Ottaviani in 1962,
mandating the popish hierarchy to conceal child molestation on the part of
popish priests--and even authorizing their "transfer."
A little further research
into Ottaviani reveals that the document's having been drafted by him is *very*
significant.
Cardinal Ottaviani, the
author of that abominable "secret document," was *not* a Freemason. To
the contrary; he was an ardent opponent of Freemasonry.
In fact: he was an
opponent of Vatican II, and an opponent of the "Novus Ordus"--the new
rite of the Mass in native languages, that was the workmanship of Vatican II.
http://www.cathinsight.com/apologetics/tradmass.htm
In fact: here is
Ottaviani's online "Intervention" that he wrote to Pope Paul VI in
opposition to Vatican II.
http://www.dailycatholic.org/issue/2002May/2002cru.htm
Now: what is the
significance of this, Parnell. Well, as a former Roman Catholic, I'll
tell you.
The
"Tridentine Mass" or "Traditionalist" Catholics have been
blaming the entire sex molestation scandal upon Vatican II and the
"modernists". In fact, Malachi Martin's book entitled "The Jesuits,
and the Betrayal of the Roman Catholic Church" (Martin himself was a
"traditionalist")--basically blames the entire sexual molestation
scandal on "Freemasons" and "modernists" in the Vatican II
movement--especially, the Jesuits.
However, this latest
revelation about Ottaviani utterly undermines that thesis! It proves, to the
contrary, that it was a traditionalist who drafted a document mandating
the coverup!
Moreover, the
document--when compared with Chiniquy's famous work, "Fifty Years in the
Church of Rome" proves what Chiniquy affirmed all along--that Ottaviani's
"secret document" is only but another document in a long string of
documents, that upheld what has been the practice of the Roman Church for
centuries.
So, the Church of Rome is
rotten to the core! The current corruption is *not* the result of
"modernist declension" within the Church, as the traditionalists
today are claiming.
This will be a major blow
to them, I can tell you. Pat Buchanan and Lew Rockwell, two noted
Catholic political conservatives who are advocates of the Tridentine Mass, will
be roiling from this blow. The uncovering of the staunch traditionalist
Cardinal Ottaviani's "secret document" authorizing the concealment of
flagitious sins by the Romish clergy, utterly disproves their thesis, and
proves, to the contrary, that the Church of Rome is rotten to the core.
