THE VATICAN
GETTING COZY WITH RUSSIA
By Al Hembd
The Vatican is strongly brushing up to Russia now--saying, "We have common
ground on Iraq." This is quite a political/strategical switch for the
Vatican. Since 1982, the Vatican switched its former alignment to the
Soviet Union, to align itself with the US.
In 1982, when Ronald Reagan bailed out the Vatican Bank with $600 million
of CIA "discretionary funds" (possibly drug money), Pope John Paul II
responded to the conditions, to the strings, which the CIA attached to this
offer of help, which were:
1) That the Pope would cooperate with the CIA in building up Solidarity in
Poland, to bring down the Communist Soviet Union. (The CIA sent several
hundred million to Solidarity, in fact, through the Vatican Bank.)
2) That the Pope would call off his Jesuit Communist attack dogs in Latin
America. (It was then that Pope John Paul II began to reign in the Jesuit
priest brothers, Ernesto and Francisco Cardenal, heads of the Communist
Sandinista movement in Nicaragua.)
The writer of the website Reformation.org points out, from several books by
Avro Manhattan----the Vatican *needed* the US at that time. (See
http://www.reformation.org/vatican_power_play.html). Therefore, the
Vatican fully cooperated with Reagan, and later, Bush Sr. In 1982, ten
major banks in Europe were about to bring a major lawsuit against the
Vatican Bank. The authorities of the nations in which those banks were,
were about to insist upon the opening of the Bank's records. And the
Vatican did not have the money to repay the $2 billion dollar "hole" that
had been incurred by Michele Sindona's and Roberto Calvi's international
bank swindling/drug laundering operation that they had used Vatican Bank
for. (With the key cooperation of Vatican officials like Archbishop
Marcinkus.)
Consequently, the Vatican fully cooperated with the US, in bringing down
the might of Soviet Russia. In return for this, Reagan allocated, as
mentioned above, $600 million in "discretionary CIA funds" to the Vatican
Bank, to avert its collapse.
However, it is now twenty years since the Vatican Bank scandal. The
Vatican successfully bartered in 1982 for significant concessions from the
US, in return for it cooperation--specifically, a papal nuncio in
Washington, D C in 1984. Through that papal nuncio, in cooperation with
key figures in the Council of Foreign Relations in New York City--the chief
of whom is Allen Dulles, nephew of John Foster Dulles, and who is now a
Jesuit professor of theology at Fordham University in NYC, a Jesuit
institution--the Vatican has gained significant influence over the US's
foreign and economic policies. Several of those policies--especially NAFTA
and GATT--have seriously compromised US economic strength. Fully two
million manufacturing jobs, for example, have left the US since 1998 alone,
under the provisions of the NAFTA and GATT treaties.
The Vatican is now getting to where it no longer needs the US. It is
rather seeking to build up its home base--the European Union. I strongly
suspect that the Vatican's cozying up to Russia entails a Vatican attempt
to bring Russia into the EU.
If that should happen, Europe will have a virtually boundless source of
petrol from Russia, and it will no longer be dependent upon the
US-controlled oil of Saudi Arabia. At that time, the EU could rise as the
dominant political/military and economic power of the world--which is
ominous, given the Vatican's control, through the Christian Democrat
parties of Europe, over the politics of the EU.
As the writer of Reformation.org astutely observes:
"With the current Pope almost a corpse, and kept alive by drugs, the
canvassing behind the scenes is INTENSE at the Vatican. America is not
needed any more as it was in 1978 so the Vatican will discard her without
the slightest remorse."
"The American lobby, which figured so prominently in the election of Pope
John Paul II [through the CIA, note Al], is losing esteem by the day. This
is not by accident. We believe that they are going to elect a right wing
pro-Austrian/German Pope at the next Conclave. The Vatican is an European
Institution - and the foundation of European Imperialism. The rise of
Russia and America forced her to side with one or the other, in order to
play one side against the other -- to reign over the ruins of both."
Below follows an article from Zenit.org, the Vatican news service.
Ostensibly, the Vatican makes itself appear to have the honorable interests
of peace in mind--but under that lamb is a wolf. Look for the Vatican
possibly to try to draw Russia into the EU camp, and then, under its wing.

Russia and Vatican Note a Common Ground on Iraqi Crisis
VATICAN CITY, MARCH 3, 2003 (Zenit.org).- A Russian government official
visited the Vatican to inform the Holy See about its position on the Iraqi
crisis and to note a degree of "convergence" between Moscow and Rome.
Aleksej Meskov, undersecretary of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the
Russian Federation, met today with Monsignor Pietro Parolin, the
undersecretary for relations with states, according to Vatican spokesman
Joaquín Navarro-Valls.
"Minister Meskov wished to inform the Holy See about the position of the
Russian government on the international situation at the present moment,"
Navarro-Valls said in a statement. "During the talks, a convergence with
the Holy See position was noted."
Russia will call for new inspections in Iraq at the meeting of the U.N.
Security Council on Friday, said Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman
Alexander Yakovenko.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that his country rejects the
use of force in the Iraqi crisis and defends a diplomatic and peaceful
solution.
